We’ve got Mat lining up in the Tesla Model S Plaid, and he’s about to go head-to-head against a Ferrari SF90 & Porsche 911 Turbo S! So let’s see how these three compare. Starting with the Tesla, it’s equipped with three electric motors - one on the front axle, and two on the rear. Combined they produce an almighty 1,020hp and 1,420Nm of torque. Naturally, the motors and batteries weigh it down a bit, so it tips the scales at 2,190kg. In terms of price, you can pick one up new for £113,000. Next up we have the Ferrari. Not only does it come with three electric motors, but it’s also packing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8! When they combine, it can put down an incredible 1,000hp and 800Nm! It’ll come as no surprise that it’s lighter than the Tesla, weighing in at 1,580kg (but we think Ferrari may be watering down their figures a bit…). And while it’s lighter than the Tesla, it’s SO much more expensive, costing from £376,000! Then finally we have the Porsche. It’s powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six that can produce 650hp and 800Nm. This power is sent to all four wheels, and it tips the scales at 1,640kg. It may be cheaper than the Ferrari, but it still carries a hefty price tag, costing from £180,000! We’ve got our hands on the almighty Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, and it’s facing off against the incredible Tesla Model S Plaid Track Pack! So let’s see how these two rockets compare. Starting with the Bugatti, it’s powered by an incredible 8-litre quad-turbo W16 that pumps out 1,600hp and 1,600Nm of torque. It sends power to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1,995kg. There have only been 30 ever built, so as a result, it’s pretty expensive, costing around £4,000,000!! Then we have the Tesla. It’s equipped with three electric motors, and they combine to produce 1,020hp and 1,420Nm of torque. It has four-wheel drive, and it weighs in at 2,190kg. The Tesla Model S Plaid, so named because it’s the only speed faster than Ludicrous in the 1987 Star Wars parody movie Spaceballs. Hashtag ElonHumour. Basically a tri-motor electric saloon with 1,020bhp, 1,050lb ft and all-wheel drive. The combination allows for pretty brutal acceleration: in the US the Model S Plaid has been clocked at 2.11 seconds to 62mph from rest, 4.19s to 100mph, 6.99s to 130mph and 0-150mph in 9.17 seconds. The quarter-mile was completed in 9.248 seconds at just over 150mph. It beats the Chiron up to 100mph. So what does this Track Package add, then? Well, hopped-up battery conditioning for one, some different settings for the air suspension, and more aggressive torque vectoring. It’s the hardware that’s the most obvious though. For roughly £16,000 in the UK, you also get the carbon-ceramic brake package, high-temp brake fluid, and a ‘Zero-G’ wheel and tyre package that includes 20-inch lightweight wheels and Goodyear Supercar 3R tyres. So has it helped fix some of the weak spots of the non-track pack Plaid? Bisher haben wir unsere Pausen auf Langstrecke immer nach dem E-Auto gerichtet und dann angehalten, wenn der Akku geladen werden wollte. Üblicherweise immer so nach 250 bis 300 km, was etwa 2-3 Stunden Fahrt zwischen den Pausen entsprach. Mit dem Model S muss sich das Auto plötzlich wieder nach UNS richten. Denn den ersten Ladestopp sollten wir erst nach 4 Stunden und 18 Minuten machen? Das halten wir nicht durch - und erst Recht nicht unser Hund. Also haben wir auf den 1000 Kilometern immer dann angehalten, wenn WIR es für nötig erachteten, um z. B. Mittagspause zu machen. So sind 3 Stopps und ganze 71 Min. Pausenzeit zusammengekommen. Configure a Tesla Model 3 with carwow: 🤍 Mat’s in the driving set of the all-new Tesla Model 3, and he’s about to find out just how different it is from the previous generation. But first up, let’s take a look at what’s changed. When it comes to the design, there are slimmer headlights up front as well as a big central vent in the bumper. There are new alloy wheel designs as well as some specially designed tyres for the car, and around the back, there’s a set of new taillights and an updated bumper. So all-in-all it looks pretty similar, but Tesla claims this is the most aerodynamic car you can buy from its range, which helps with its efficiency! As a result, the new Model 3 can travel further than the old car. It Long Range edition comes with the same 75kWh battery pack as before, while the Standard Range keeps the same 57kWh pack. However, the range on the Long Range car has now been increased from 374 miles to 423 miles! The car also comes equipped with two motors to produce 490hp and 490Nm. On the inside, there are a number of new features. The seats now come with ventilation, and there’s an LED light bar that runs along the side doors and across the dash. The stalks have also been removed from the steering wheel, with indicator buttons now added to it. All-in-all the price remains pretty similar, so you’ll still be likely to pay around £42,000 for an entry-level Model 3. But is it worth it?! You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!
